Welcome to the Artists Blog !!

1stAngel: When did you first become interested in art.
Robin
: I first became interested in art when I was a nipper. I enjoyed sketching. Obviously there was no arty intellectual reason for it, I just enjoyed it.

1stAngel: What made you choose the style of art you use most?
Robin : If I sketch I tend to sketch quickly, in a sort of autonomic way. Not allowing too much thought to come to the process, just allowing it to be more creative.

1stAngel: Has your style changes from when you first began as an artist?
Robin : My style has definitely changed since I first started. I have studied at art school which opened my mind up to the successful artists of our time and previous times. This has allowed me to try and see things through their eyes and to try and understand how they perceived things. So, it gave me an understanding of abstract, minimalism, expressionism, classic, impressionism, pop and many other forms. This delving into other art forms, including sculpting and photography and videography, has give me a broader understanding and influence on what I do.

1stAngel: What medium do you use and what made you choose that medium?
Robin : When I first started, I just used a pencil, which was just enough to capture what I wanted. But at art school we were introduced to different mediums and styles….. Charcoal, paint, using found objects, photography, plus computers. So basically, as an artist, I try to utilise whatever is useful and allows me to expand and see things differently.

1stAngel: Do your ideas come from life or imagination?
Robin : I get my ideas from both life and imagination. I stated earlier that I did automatism in my sketches. But obviously an artist catalogues things in their environment, and ideas, sometimes whether they want to or not.

1stAngel: How do you choose your images and colours?
Robin : That’s a difficult question. Sometimes it is just accidental. Sometimes it is something I have catalogued and have been thinking about. Sometimes I just want to mimic what I have taken in.

1stAngel: Who is your favourite artist?
Robin : Phew! I’m not sure I have a favourite one as there are so many who have had varying effects on me. I like expressive but I also like realists. In truth I think when it comes to art, I am quite open minded and try to get something from what the artist has created whoever that may be.

1stAngel: What is your favourite piece of work by yourself?
Robin : Water Forms 3 is my favourite if I had to pick one. I just like the organic appeal to it. The spikiness also, although it is just sitting calmly in the water. It just appeals to me.

1stAngel: Have you had exhibits in galleries?
Robin : No, only at art school. Nothing since then.

1stAngel: Have you any exhibits in galleries planned for the future?
Robin : No, I have been too busy to even think about that.

1stAngel: What are your plans for the future?
Robin : To continue breathing! As long as I am breathing I am alive.

1stAngel : :) Thank you Robin for allowing me to interview you!
