When did you first become interested in art?
I have been interested in art since i was 5 years of age and it has not let up since.
Has your style changed from when you first began as an artist?
Oh most definately. My style has matured very much from my humble beginnings.
What style of art do you use most?
Mostly whimsical but I also lean a bit towards fantasy

Low Tech Engineering
What medium do you use?
I mostly work in Acrylics but I do pencil, colored pencil, and Digital painting as well.
What made you choose that medium?
It drys fast and I can work it as Impasto or as a wash for a watercolored affect.
Do your ideas come from life or imagination?
Both

Rush Hour (Elephants)
How do you choose your images and colours?
Depends on the mood I want. If i want dreamy I use more cool colors and if I want to invoke more of an action setting I of course use warmer ones.
Who is your favourite artist?
I have several favorites so it would be hard to say just one but if i must the I like Scott Gustafson a lot.
What is your favourite piece of work by yourself?
Lightkeeper two is my favorite to date

Lightkeeper 2
How much time (on average) does it take to complete a work?
Depends on size and subject matter. But on average it takes between 3 to 8 months to complete a piece.
How well do you take criticism?
As well as most artists i suppose. it would depend on who is giving the criticism.
What do you do to overcome a ‘block’?
Play music and read.
How do you know something is ‘finished’? Is it easy to walk away?
It is never easy to walk away but usually i know a piece is done if it tells the story i want it to.

Toucan Lagoon
Have you had exhibits in galleries?
None to date
Have you any exhibits in galleries planned for the future?
Not yet but I am looking
What are your plans for the future?
Art of course. I would eventually like to retire from my current job as well as it pays and paint large works with mixed stories.

Wine and Roses
What advice would you give new artists?
Draw draw draw and then after that draw. A very good artist friend who also is my mentor told me if you draw everyday for at least 6 months you will be a master. I have not done it that amount of time but I can see where that would be true.
Thank you so much for participating in my interviews!! I adore your elephants, they have so much life in them
