When did you first become interested in art?

As soon as I could hold a pencil.

Has your style changed from when you first began as an artist?

Well after 60 years of doing art ….how could it not.

What style of art do you use most?

Since that fall of 2008 I am a Digital artist. Using my own drawings and paintings and photographs to make montages images with digital tools.

What medium do you use?

I have used everything (well maybe not everything) most everything available.

Ink,paint, pencil, watercolor, crayon, clay, wood, metal, stone, fiber and found objects. I even studied and made holograms.

What made you choose that medium?

Always playing with what ever was available to push to see what could be done.

Do your ideas come from life or imagination?

Both!

How do you choose your images and colours?

What feels good and correct. Often what is most beautiful!

Who is your favourite artist?

Artemasia.

What is your favourite piece of work by yourself?

The last piece I made. Which is the first piece I submitted. I did the drawing as an art student in 1969 and used the image of the face in the piece I did today. Called “Golden hooded cape”.

I love the fact that 40 years has pasted between the images.

How much time (on average) does it take to complete a work?

Some times years and sometimes minutes. I just never know.

How well do you take criticism?

Not a lot. But I can take it. My son is my hardest critic. He is really tough!

What do you do to overcome a ‘block’?

Look! and just keep on looking until something works.

How do you know something is ‘finished’? Is it easy to walk away?

Sometimes it is just done and I walk away. Some times I have to set it aside for awhile and come back.

Have you had exhibits in galleries?

Almost every year from 1972 to 1993.

Have you any exhibits in galleries planned for the future?

Not yet!

What are your plans for the future?

To make some prints and creat a portfolio and do some marketing.

What advice would you give new artists?

Be sure to have a day job!
